A Châteauneuf-du-Pape with depth, character and authenticity.
The “Tradition” 2021 vintage reflects the philosophy of Domaine André Mathieu: to convey the soul of the appellation through a distinguished, generous wine, true to the great terroirs of the Southern Rhône.

🍇 Origin & terroir

From one of the oldest family estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this wine comes from historic plots resting on rolled pebbles, red clays and sands, typical of the appellation.
These soils give the wine power, warmth, concentration and minerality, for a typically “Châteauneuf” expression.

The 2021 blend is based on traditional grape varieties:

  • Grenache (majority) – power, roundness, richness of fruit

  • Syrah – colour, structure

  • Mourvèdre – depth, spices, ageing potential

  • Cinsault & old grape varieties – finesse and aromatic elegance

Winemaking is carried out in the spirit of the estate: measured extraction, respect for the fruit, then ageing combining vats and foudres to preserve the pure character of the vintage.

👃 Tasting notes

Colour
Dark ruby with garnet reflections, dense and luminous.

Nose
Deep and complex:
– ripe black fruits (blackberry, plum)
– kirsch cherry
– sweet spices (pepper, liquorice, clove)
– garrigue notes, undergrowth and light cocoa

Palate
Ample body, fine and well-integrated tannins.
Black fruit blends with spices, with a beautiful tension for a fresh vintage.
The finish is long, warm, with accents of cocoa, liquorice and stewed fruits.
A harmonious style, true to the classicism of the estate.
